About Me

I believe that you are the expert in your own life. We'll work together to help you create change. I approach healing work holistically and eclectically. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, substance misuse, or have deeper traumatic wounds, I will work with you to help you create change and find the contentment you are striving towards. My goals include helping you find peace and working myself out of a job.

I have focused my education and practice on addiction, trauma, and couples work. I believe in body-mind connection and use a variety of approaches in my work including IFS, CBT, EFT, EMDR, polyvagal theory, somatic experiencing, psychodrama, and sensorimotor psychotherapy. I also enjoy working with couples using EFT or a Gottman approach.

I am a practitioner with my own lived experience. I struggled with substance misuse and PTSD for many years before I was able to heal. It wasn't until I found a therapist I was able to connect with that I could "do the work". I also spent a good portion of my life as an artist and I enjoy collaborating creatively with you on your healing journey.

My Mission

Andrew Cecon Counselling exists to bring high quality mental health care to individuals and communities.

My Vision

I am trying to create a future where mental health care is not stigmatized and wherein everyone can find a way to be their best self.

Compassionate Care. Trusted Support.

I draw from a wide range of modalities

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS views the mind as made up of different “parts,” each with its own role and intention. This approach supports understanding internal patterns with curiosity and compassion, rather than judgment.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on identifying and working with patterns of thinking and behaviour that may be contributing to distress. It offers structured ways to explore how thoughts, emotions, and actions influence one another.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples

EFT for couples focuses on emotional connection and attachment patterns within relationships. This approach supports couples in better understanding their interactions and strengthening emotional responsiveness.

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented approach that pays attention to physical sensations and nervous system responses. It supports awareness of how stress and trauma may be held in the body.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy integrates talk therapy with attention to bodily experience and movement. It is often used to explore how past experiences continue to influence present-day emotional and physical responses.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT combines acceptance-based and skills-based strategies to support emotional regulation and coping. It often includes practical tools for managing intense emotions, relationships, and distress.

Mindfulness Practices

Mindfulness practices involve cultivating present-moment awareness with openness and curiosity. These practices can support noticing thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations without becoming overwhelmed by them.

Polyvagal Theory

Polyvagal Theory offers a framework for understanding how the nervous system responds to safety, connection, and threat. It helps inform approaches that support regulation and a sense of stability.

Psychodrama

Psychodrama uses creative and experiential methods to explore personal experiences and relationships. This approach can support insight through action, role exploration, and reflection.
