Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know exactly what I want to work on before starting?
No. Many people begin counselling with a general sense that something isn’t working or feels difficult. Therapy can be a space to explore what feels most important to focus on, at a pace that feels manageable.
What types of concerns do you work with?
I work with individuals and couples navigating concerns such as trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, substance use, anger, and relationship stress. Sessions are tailored to each person’s needs and goals.
Do you offer virtual counselling sessions?
Yes, we offer virtual counselling sessions to accommodate clients who prefer remote support or cannot visit in person.
Are your counselling services covered by insurance?
Many insurance plans cover my services. I recommend checking with your provider to confirm specific coverage details.
What does a typical session look like?
Sessions are 50 minutes in length. The structure and focus of each session can vary depending on what you would like to work on and how things are unfolding over time.
Do you primarily work with men?
Yes. However, I my client base includes teens (15+), non-male identifying individuals, and couples.
What approaches do you use in therapy?
I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including IFS, CBT, EFT, EMDR, somatic and sensorimotor approaches, DBT-informed strategies, mindfulness practices, polyvagal theory, and psychodrama. These are used flexibly to meet each client where they are.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is a core part of psychotherapy. There are some legal and ethical limits to confidentiality, such as situations involving risk of serious harm or court orders. These limits are reviewed as part of informed consent before therapy begins.
How much do sessions cost?
Sessions are $190 for 50 minutes. A limited number of sliding scale spots are available. Payment is typically made by e-transfer, and invoices are provided after sessions.
What is your cancellation policy?
At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations may be subject to a fee, as outlined in the practice policies.
How do I know if this is a good fit?
Finding the right therapist is important. You are welcome to review the information on this site or reach out with questions before booking. Therapy is a collaborative process, and fit can be discussed openly.
