Consent to Counselling and Psychotherapy Services
The Therapeutic Process
You have taken a very positive step by seeking therapy. The outcome depends largely on your willingness to participate and engage in this process, which may sometimes result in discomfort. Remembering unpleasant events and becoming aware of feelings attached to those events can bring on intense feelings of anger, depression, anxiety, etc. There are no miracle cures. I cannot promise that your behavior or circumstances will change. I promise to support you and do my very best to understand you, identify recurring patterns in your experience, and help you clarify what you want for yourself.
Documentation of Diagnisis, Prognosis, Health, or Disability
If you require written documentation (such as a letter, report, or form completion), please be aware that an additional fee may apply.
Should a formal diagnosis be necessary, a referral to a qualified professional (such as a Registered Psychologist) can be arranged to meet your needs.

Conflict of Interest and Dual Relationships
Andrew Cecon Counselling is deeply committed to maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and always respecting your confidentiality.
In smaller communities, such as ours in Northern Ontario, there is a greater likelihood of encountering clients outside of therapy in community spaces.
If an incidental encounter occurs, your therapist will prioritize your privacy by not initiating contact or acknowledgment unless you choose to do so.
Wherever possible, dual relationships (such as professional and personal relationships) will be avoided.
If a potential conflict of interest arises, we will discuss it openly with you and collaboratively determine the best course of action, including possible referral if needed, to ensure that your care is always in your best interest.
Confidentiality
Andrew Cecon Counselling respects your confidentiality. Your information will only be shared without your consent when required by law or ethical obligation, including:
- If there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others.
- If there is suspicion of a child being abused or neglected.
- If there is concern about an elder being mistreated in a care facility.
- If a court orders the release of your records.
- If reporting misconduct by another regulated health professional.
- If police require information about a missing person.
- If public health requires information for infection control (e.g., COVID-19 contact tracing).
